Helping Lower Cholesterol: Oat Fibre

The soluble fibre in whole grain oats binds some of the cholesterol in your digestive tract. When soluble fibre binds to cholesterol, this cholesterol is "trapped" and some of it is removed from your body naturally. In addition to soluble fibre, whole grain oats contain vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.

How can we help?
3 grams of soluble fibre daily from whole grain oat foods, like original Cheerios* and Honey Nut Cheerios* cereal, in a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol, may help reduce the risk of heart disease. Original Cheerios* cereal provides 1 gram per serving; Honey Nut Cheerios* cereal provides 0.75 gram per serving.
